The view was spectacular! To the north we could look out at Diamond Head and to the south we could see the surfers off Waikiki beach trying to catch waves. We had booked a partial ocean view, but for me, I could see enough of it to make it an ocean view. My wife and I took to sitting on the lanai at night and gazing at the lights climbing the mountains in glittering spikes. The air-conditioner cooled the room just fine and even kept the bedroom cool during the day when the door was open. But, at night, when our door was closed the a/c could not do the job. We asked for a table fan and left our lanai door open, the breezes coming off the mountains kept us plenty cool and, even a little chilly a few evenings.
As with most hotels, location is a major selling point. While the Aston Pacific Monarch is not on the beach it is only a few short blocks away.All-in-all, we had a wonderful stay at the Pacific Monarch with nothing bad to say about it. The room was comforatble, the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, full sized-appliances and even a microwaves. We saved a bundle by eating breakfasts and a lunch or two right in the room. The parking, while the spaces were a challenge to manuver a mini van into, was acceptable. And the location was ideal. What more can you ask for for $100 a night . Not bad for a family of 5. We highly recommend this establishment.
